The WREN Works Maker Studio will provide a place for inter-generational community collaboration, education, classes, workshops, and networking events. Members can work on their businesses and projects while learning new, creative skills through workshops, mentorship, events, and a peer-learning environment.

Open to the public and members, Wednesday through Friday, 12pm-8pm, and Saturdays, 10am-6pm, the WREN Works Maker Studio will includes public access to a free technology space, with a comfortable seating area, laptops, and free wireless Internet connectivity. There will be small fees for printing, faxing, copies, and coffee or tea. In the back of the new building at 117 Main Street will be shared flexible co-working offices for daily, weekly, or monthly use.

Upstairs, members will have access to the new technology of 3D printers, lasercutters, and CNC machines to further the ability to make and create in the Rapid Protoyping Studio. A small Metals Studio will have soldering irons, small tools to make jewelry, stained glass, Arduinos (electronics projects), and tools to repair old electronics. The combined Art & Fiber Studio have sewing machines, art supplies, a sink, and other tools for creativity. The Media Studio contains a photography studio, video green screens, and audio recording equipment. A large classroom and conference room looks out over the bright Berlin Main Street, with mountain and river views. The basement, with walk-out access to Pleasant Street, will include a Clay Studio, with kiln, wheels, slab roller with glazes, tools, and clay materials. Each “Studio” will has classes and mentors to help teach and explain the safety and use of materials, and interest areas will be modified and grow with community interest and support.

WREN began in 1994 with a program that supported 12 women participants in their dreams of business ownership. By the spring of 1995, these WREN pioneers were operating their own enterprises. Encouraged by the success of this pilot project, we began building what we refer to as the “WREN Community.” Today WREN has nearly 1,500 members, more than half of whom own their own businesses, men and women living in New Hampshire and beyond, who benefit from and support WREN’s many initiatives and resources. Our work connects people with one another, offers learning opportunities, creates and supports markets for entrepreneurs, and provides access to resources many couldn’t afford on their own.
